Federal prosecutors have moved to revoke Paul Manaforts pre trial release for allegedly contacting potential witnesses in his fraud and money laundering case in order to suborn perjury

President Donald Trump's former campaign chairman Paul Manafort is heading to court on June 15 for a hearing on the issue of whether he tried to tamper with potential witnesses while on pre-trial release. Federal prosecutors filed a motion to revoke Manafort's bail claiming that he used encrypted messaging apps to try to reach two business partners who could be witnesses to his alleged fraud and money laundering case. The case stems from special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential campaign, although defense attorneys have argued that Manafort's charges fall outside the scope of the investigation and should be dismissed on jurisdictional grounds. The federal judge will decide whether Manafort will have to go to jail pending his trial or whether the terms of his bail will be further restricted. It is also possible that Manafort will face an additional charge of obstruction of justice if there is enough evidence to support the allegation of witness tampering.
